Studiolo, 2020

Studiolo attempts to create ‘Space For Thoughts’. It was designed based on the following requirements.

  1. There should be multiple wandering paths guiding to different contemplative spots that one can walk to.
  2. The form of the architecture embraces a narrow brook.
  3. There should be a central resonator hall that reverberates the murmur of the brook and reflects light into the interior space to achieve subtly diffused interior light.

The idea was to create an architectural space purely for thinking. I questioned myself, ‘when do I become focused and creative?’, ‘When do I get the Ah-Ha moment?’ I figured it was oftentimes when I am in movement, during travels when my body is in motion and the surrounding keeps on changing. The main goal thus became designing a small house that provides a series of promenades leading to different contemplative corners each with different qualities of space – view, brightness, sound, and temperature.

Note that the model was made with earlier ideas and the renders shows the final design.
