Air Bridge, 2021

This prototype proposes an interactive intervention into the public space. The floating pathway gradually changes width and height with twists and turns, which provides a caving-like experience. The flexibility and instability of the rope challenge people to find their own bodily solution to move forward.

The intervention serves as a counterbalance to the modern phenomenon that visual experience of space holds hegemony that space for bodily exploration is diminishing.

As I recall my childhood experience, the playground was the place where bodily exploration, the discovery of a unique posture and movement were appreciated
by peers. There was a tacit competition of who uses the body in the most creative and daring way. However, this essential environment where healthy competition takes place is considered children-exclusive. I attempt to democratize this healty environment by inserting it into the public space, hence everyone regardless of age can play, explore, and rediscovoer their bodies.
